DETROIT MOTOWN, MOTOR CITY

This is probably one of the most dreadful cities I have ever had the displeasure to visit! Remember when looking ath these snaps that this is the Motor Vehicle capital of the world!!!!!

This (believe it or not!) is downtown Detroit at 8:45 on a Monday morning!

The world capital of the motor car sure knows how to look after it's roads!

Take a close look at the YMCA on the right of the picture

It certainly in NOT fun to stay at this YMCA

The only thing worth doing in detroit is spending the day going round in circles on the imaginatively named Detroit People Mover (DPM - these ermerikans sure like their acronyms!) It's a 'maglev' monorail type thing which does have a few bits of nice art at each station. This is one piece, a bronze statue.

Quality Hotels in Downtown Detroit

There are some skeletons of nice looking buildings here. Just nothing to do with them. The guy in the picture is Khalid Alam. He was the car park attendant across from this building. Downtown Detroit is one BIG carpark. To get to here get off the DMP at Cadilac Centre and turn back on yourself. Cadilac Cetre sounds good Huh! But in actual fact it's just a station in the middle of lots of carparks! Oh, and there is the library - derelict!
